CAPPA Professional Development Committee Charge/Expectations/Responsibilities for Committee Members CHARGE The Professional Development Committee’s key role is to ensure the proper education and development of educational facilities professionals across the entire CAPPA community. Our charge is to continually evaluate, validate and improve the educational development for the association as well as assist in the offering of the Supervisor’s Toolkit and other educational offerings throughout the year under the CAPPA umbrella. Implicit in this charge is the need for creative thinking and bold, innovative ideas in the constant review of educational content and exploration of more effective delivery methodology. EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS Committee Members Commitment Specifically, with regard to the Technology Conference, there is an expectation of support for logistics, including, for example, registration and business partner liaison, by Professional Development Committee members. Unlike the annual conference, which is hosted by an institution, the Technology Conference is essentially “hosted” by the Professional Development Committee. Accordingly, some, though perhaps not all, of the Professional Development Committee members are needed for early arrival in order to assist with logistics. In addition, each committee member is expected to attend conference calls. If a member cannot attend a particular conference call, he or she should contact the Co-Chairs in advance of the conference call to provide any updates in advance of the conference call. As a volunteer organization, CAPPA relies upon its volunteers on the Professional Development Committee to ensure effective delivery of educational programming. Each member of the Professional Development Committee should take these volunteer efforts seriously. While it is understood that each member must attend to the needs of his or her institution in their primary role as an employee of that institution, members should also understand that CAPPA and the other members of the Professional Development Committee are relying on them as well. Thus, each committee member should be willing to extend extra effort when required or as promised in order to fulfill any responsibilities accepted by the member. On the Professional Development Committee, there can be expected to be times of more intense activity and time requirements during the several months preceding an educational offering mixed with times of less intense activity during the interim periods between educational offerings. Finally, each member should commit to his or her own continual professional development by reading extensively, listening to speakers (and keeping a list of the good ones), attending educational programs, and gathering ideas to be shared with their fellow committee members. |
